Fall 2007 Cherokee County Campus Library Opens

Development of the Cherokee County Campus began in fall 2004. The Cherokee County Campus Library opened in Fall 2007. 2 part-time staff employees were hired to allow for longer service hours. The Library is located on the bottom floor of the Academic Building and is the hub of activity for the building. When the library opened in fall 2007 features included a research area with 10 computer workstations, 2 group study rooms, wired tables where students can use laptops, a periodical reading area and a collection of library materials to support curriculum programs at the Cherokee County Campus.

Below are pictures taken during the construction of the Academic Building at the Cherokee County Campus.

The outside of the academic building. The main entrance is where you see the black glass panels – just below the lift in the picture.

Library staff get their first tour of the library space at the Cherokee County Campus. The bright area is the main part of the library and has a high atrium ceiling with a skylight. The doors at the rear of this picture are to the group study rooms.

The library is in the center of the first floor. Classrooms are located on either side of the library. Windows are located down each side of the library looking into the halls. This view is standing in the hall looking across the main library area to the hallway on the other side.

The atrium roof over the main library space at the Cherokee County Campus. Classrooms and offices are located on the 2nd floor of the Academic building. The 2nd floor hall has windows looking into the library on the 1st floor.
