  Accessing Information From Off-Campus

You need a username and password to access our research databases. Call 864-592-4764 or email Ask-A-Librarian to obtain the username and password.

Finding Books 

• Use the link on the library home page, Library Catalog to find paper books that can be checked out.

• Use the Electronic Books link to access full text books online.  You can access over 40,000 full text books on any computer with Internet access.

 If you live outside of the Upstate we will mail books from our collection to you. Included will be a self-addressed stamped envelope for book return.

•  If you need a book, video, or magazine article from another library, we will place a request for you. Use the Interlibrary Loan Form to submit a request.

  • SCILS - Access through the SCC Library Catalog. Use the drop down arrow labeled Library and choose All to see titles available at the 16 libraries in the SCILS Library Consortium.    

Finding Magazine Articles

• We subscribe to many full text Magazine Article databases. For information on how to search for journal, magazine and newspaper articles, use the Gale Database Tutorial.

• Searching tip: limit your search to full text.  If you don't find what you need with full-text searches, redo your search dropping the full text limit, and submit an ILL request using the Interlibrary Loan Form.

Online Reference Material

• The links to Literary Criticism and Encyclopedias provide access to full-text literary criticism on thousands of authors, and access to several full sets of encyclopedias.
