Online Medical Dictionaries
There are some good medical dictionaries available online—both through the library’s databases and the general internet. Health and Wellness Resource Center gives you access to Mosby's Medical, Nursing and Allied Health Dictionary.
To access it, go to the library’s page http://library.sccsc.edu
Click on “Health Science Databases.”
Click on Health and Wellness Resource Center (when you are off-campus you will need to enter our off-campus password).
On the database’s mainpage, click on “Medical Dictionary.”
Medline Plus (a website put out by the government) gives you access to a Merriam Webster dictionary at http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/mplusdictionary.html.
You can add this website to your desktop by right clicking on the page and selecting “create shortcut.” This will put a link right on your desktop. I think you can also do this with the Mosby’s dictionary—but each session, you need to go through the library’s page and enter in the off-campus username and password so that the dictionary would recognize you as an authorized user.
