ART 101 |
Japanese Internment Camps and art. Find information about the type of art, type of materials used and the artists (including if they were “famous” artists before the internment).
There is one book in e-Books on this subject, Artifacts of Loss. The library is also purchasing a copy of the book Art of Gaman.
An excellent web resource is The Online Center for the Study of Japanese American Concentration Camp Art: http://www.lib.iastate.edu/internart-main/2023/3007. Use the link "The Art" at the top of the page.
There is an online video about a museum exhibit: The View from Within: Japanese-American Art from the Internment Camps: 1942-1945. Real Player is needed to view the video. http://www.oid.ucla.edu/Webcast/UCTV/Titles/View.html
Gale databases. Magazine and journal articles about this subject, but the best results are newspaper articles. Most articles are about an exhibition in the San Francisco area of art created at the camps.
